began taking photos as a teenager and held his camera 

with unwavering passion for over 70 years until the day he passed.

He approached photography with a free perspective,

unbound by rules or constraints, 

and constantly explored new methods of expression.

Leading contemporary art photography with a pioneering spirit,

he developed his own unique style,

unaffiliated with any trends or movements.

In the West, his style became so distinct 

that it was referred to by the proper noun “Ueda-cho.”
